It occurred to me this week and at this point in my pregnancy with Isla, I had only 10 weeks to go until I delivered her. Where has the time gone? It feels like there’s so much more to do, but I’ll never have time to get it all done in 10 weeks! Here are baby boy’s updates as of late…
|| baby boy is still nameless. I lobbied hard for Beckham until my mother-in-law said the first and last name together. Since our last name starts with an “M,” it ended up sounding like his name would be “Becca.” No bueno. So I’m back to the drawing board and can’t settle on anything, and anything I suggest, Tahd and Gabe promptly dislike. ;)
|| my current list includes Blake, Boden, Deacon, Declan, Finn, Garrett, Jude, Lachlan, Lawson, and Merrick.
|| so far, baby boy’s growth looks good. I’ll be having a growth ultrasound in several weeks due to the abnormal genetic screening I had earlier, but there’s no indication things will be abnormal.
|| what was abnormal, though, was my gestational diabetes screening. I failed it with a level of 154 (cutoff is apparently 140). I have to go for the three hour test in the next several days. I’m waiting until Tahd gets home, because the thought of taking Isla to the lab and sitting there with her for 3 hours sounds entirely insurmountable.
|| I’ve bought all of baby boy’s Christmas presents. He’s getting a toy bus, a rainbow teether, a striped knit outfit, and a stroller. Shocking truth…the stroller is for me, really, but since he’s the one requiring me to buy it and it’s unthinkably expensive, I’m calling it his Christmas present. After copious hours of research that involved spreadsheets and formulas and stroller reports, I settled on the Bumbleride Indie Twin. No stroller had all the features I wanted, but this stroller can also be used as a light jogging stroller, and that’s what tipped the scales in its favor. That, and the fact that I was also able to find it on a super sale of more than $200 off. I really hope it’s everything I’m dreaming of!
|| Like I did for all my other babies, I’m knitting him a blanket. It’s this pattern, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I’m a bit of a hack when it comes to knitting; I’ve made lots of errors in this project. I’m just hoping they’re not too horridly obvious! I knitted him a sweater for coming home (I think it’s too big…might knit a new one?) and want to knit a pair of pants to go with it, but we’ll see if that happens.
|| When baby boy is ready to move out of our room, he and Isla will be sharing, and I think I’ve settled on a theme for their room. Almost. Hopefully. I started a Pinterest board a while ago to keep track of inspiration rooms and ideas. It was private for a while when I suspected we were having a boy but didn’t know for sure, but now that we’re certain there’s no reason it can’t be public. You can see my inspiration rooms here.
